Dream interpretation of hazrat ibn sirin, may allah have mercy on him, has said that a mortar and pestle in a dream represent two partners. one is in need of the other, and if both agree, the work will be good and beneficial. if one of them is missing, it will not be advantageous. if one sees that something edible is being pounded in the mortar, it indicates that the dreamer will gain nothing except through toil and hardship, in accordance with its value and price. and if it is medicine or related to constipation, it indicates an increase in wealth. hazrat jabir maghribi, may allah have mercy on him, said if something sweet is crushed in the mortar, it indicates benefit through hardship and difficulty. if it is bitter, it is a sign of grief and sorrow. if gemstones are pounded in the mortar, it indicates that he will see as much profit, but eventually, his wealth will be lost.
