(az-zumar 39:63) hazrat ibrahim karmani [may allah have mercy on him] stated that a key in a dream denotes the opening of the doors of goodness and the closing of the doors of evil. some interpreters say that the key to closing a door signifies marriage. if one sees they hold the key to the heavenly gate, it suggests they will become a leader in religion. hazrat daniel [may allah have mercy on him] indicated that if someone possesses an iron key, it symbolizes strength and goodness. if one has a key made of copper or bronze, it implies their speech will have influence. a wooden key suggests minor goodness. if they have a gold or silver key, it indicates prestige and the acquisition of treasures. hazrat jabir maghribi [may allah have mercy on him] said the more keys there are, the more wealth there will be, and that keys symbolize prayers, seeking forgiveness, and asking god for one's desires. if a key is placed on a lock and the door is opened, it signifies the fulfillment of needs and successful affairs. but if a key breaks in the lock, it indicates one's prayer is not pure. if one opens multiple locks with one key, it suggests marrying a beautiful woman. hazrat hafiz muabir [may allah have mercy on him] stated that if someone sees a key in their hand, it indicates they are a person of prayer. if the key falls from their hand, it suggests laziness in prayer. hazrat jafar sadiq [may allah have mercy on him] mentioned that a key in a dream represents eight aspects: (1) resolution of matters, (2) relief from sorrow, (3) healing from illness, (4) attainment of desires, (5) strength in religion, (6) performing hajj, (7) acceptance of prayers, and (8) acquiring knowledge.
