Dream interpretation of hazrat ibn sirin (may allah have mercy on him) has said that in a dream, a cat represents a mischievous thief. if someone sees a known cat entering their house, it means a known thief will enter their house. if an unknown cat appears, it would be an unknown thief. if one sees that something from the house is eaten or taken by the cat, it means the thief will take something from the house. if they see that they have killed the cat, it signifies they will overpower and subdue the thief. hazrat ibrahim kermani (may allah have mercy on him) said if someone sees in a dream that they have eaten cat meat, it means they will obtain that much of the thief's wealth. if they see a fight with the cat and the cat scratches them, it indicates illness, but if they overpower the cat, it means recovery from illness. if the cat bites them, it means the illness will be prolonged. some interpreters say the cat in a dream means a servant. hazrat daniyal (may allah have mercy on him) said whoever sees a cat in a dream before dawn will remain sick for six days. if a slave sees in a dream that they have milked a cat and drank the milk, it means they will be freed and will marry a woman from the house they gain freedom from. if a free person dreams of drinking cat milk, it means they will fight with someone. hazrat jafar sadiq (may allah have mercy on him) has said that in a dream, a cat represents seven things: (1) thief (2) rumor monger (3) servant (4) illness (5) kind woman (6) envious person (7) fight and discord.
